A prayer shawl is a knit or crocheted shawl that is made by an individual with or without a specific person in mind.  The knitter/crotchetier begins each shawl with prayers and blessings for the recipient.  These intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl.  When the shawl is completed, it is blessed and sent on its way.

The prayer shawl symbolizes God's unconditional love to us; as one is "wrapped in His love" as he/she wears it.  It can be given to comfort after a loss, for medical procedures or sickness, and for a wedding or birthday experience.

Anyone can request a prayer shawl for whatever reason may be important to them.  To request a prayer shawl from St. Mary's Prayer Ministry or for more information contact Donna Putzer@ 561-4136 or contact the rectory office @ 561-2606.

We are comprised of individuals who share their time, prayers and talents that consist of knitting, crocheting, and card stamping.

We are a ministry that works for the good of others.  We do not ask for money, however, donations and volunteers are always welcome.

We will always welcome anyone who is interested in this ministry.  There are many and varied tasks that need to be completed to make this ministry successful.  There is never a job too big or small that is considered unimportant.
